RED is Cupid and the Devil
Red is hot.
It's a strong color that conjures up a range of seemingly conflicting emotions from passionate love to violence and warfare.
Red is Cupid and the Devil.
In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration. Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck.Red is often the color worn by brides in the East while it is the color of mourning in South Africa. In Russia the Bolsheviks used a red flag when they overthrew the Tsar, thus red became associated with communism. Many national flags use red. The red Ruby is the traditional Fortieth Wedding Anniversary gift.
Use the color red to grab attention and to get people to take action. Use red when you don't want to sink into the background.
Use red to suggest speed combined with confidence and perhaps even a dash of danger. A little bit of red goes a long way. Small doses can often be more effective than large amounts of this strong color. Multiple shades

The Best of October Visual Art!

Now it's time for October 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
:pointr: Run by karemelancholia since 1 year & 8 monthes.
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it!
Fave Fave Fave!
My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations.
Artists need to be supported.
So don't be shy!

Visit their pages, support them by faving, commenting, and when you see a deviation that you like also view their gallery entirely, like that you can decide if you will devwatch them or not.
Viewing only a deviation (what is great) is not enough ;-)
And if you want to see your favorite visual artists or art selected to be in this feature for the next month, send me via note the

MOST BEAUTIFUL GOTH JEWELRY ON dA #2
"Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from deathrock, punk, androgynous, Victorian, some Renaissance and medieval style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair."(wikipedia)

In the previous feature you could see the awesome jewellery that can be considered as GOTH. This is the 2nd part of it, widden with some unique clothing & dolls.

Last time some of you pointed that victorian, postpunk or emo style has nothing goth in it, so this time I've been browsing through one, specific keyword that couldn't mislead me - goth.

Enjoy, and don't forget to support those great jewelry makers!

I find inspiration in skeletal winter trees against sunset skies, lichens, islands, the hues of the sea…

I have always been a magpie, an observer, relishing the intangible aspects, the wonder of life on this Earth. In my teen years, I learned basic jewelry techniques, stringing and beadwork. I longed to capture the many beautiful pieces of nature that inspired me so, and wire was the natural form to do so. I began playing with wire in 2003, and haven't stopped.

Sojourn Curiosities specializes in sculpted wire, mixed-media jewelry. I think of my work as part art, part artifact~ inspired by nature, fantasy and the Victorian era. My collections range from simple, sweet designs to show-stopping, heirloom quality jewelry. My pieces are built around antique keys, sea glass and china, vintage buttons, and found natural materials, such as shells and stones.

I have been designing antique key jewelry with my signature wrapping style since 2006. In addition, I continue to evolve and find new takes on this collection, ranging from incorporating pieces of nature, to roses to conveying different themes.

Each piece of jewelry I create will take you on a journey, to another place or time. I hope to capture the intangible, inspire a sense of wonder with my work. Each piece has a story to tell.
Interests
Well, I'm going to try to be much more present, here, because...I miss it. And, we go WAY BACK. Way back!

I love your keys! Very beautiful! Where do you get your flower beads from? I work with stained glass and would love to incorporate them.

Have you ever made a tutorial on how to do the loops that you make? I've looked and looked and can't find one anywhere. I'd love to learn how to make them properly.

I came by it through experimentation over the past 20 years. I wouldn't know how to teach it and I also love the concept of a jewelry artist trying basic techniques and developing a unique style. Lots and lots of tutorials out there on the internet.
