I find inspiration in skeletal winter trees against sunset skies, lichens, islands, the hues of the sea…
I have always been a magpie, an observer, relishing the intangible aspects, the wonder of life on this Earth. In my teen years, I learned basic jewelry techniques, stringing and beadwork. I longed to capture the many beautiful pieces of nature that inspired me so, and wire was the natural form to do so. I began playing with wire in 2003, and haven't stopped.
Sojourn Curiosities specializes in sculpted wire, mixed-media jewelry. I think of my work as part art, part artifact~ inspired by nature, fantasy and the Victorian era. My collections range from simple, sweet designs to show-stopping, heirloom quality jewelry. My pieces are built around antique keys, sea glass and china, vintage buttons, and found natural materials, such as shells and stones.
I have been designing antique key jewelry with my signature wrapping style since 2006. In addition, I continue to evolve and find new takes on this collection, ranging from incorporating pieces of nature, to roses to conveying different themes.
Each piece of jewelry I create will take you on a journey, to another place or time. I hope to capture the intangible, inspire a sense of wonder with my work. Each piece has a story to tell.
